Driver Stats At Phoenix

In his first season at Stewart-Haas Racing, the driver who’s as feisty and confrontational as he is talented has the best record of the entrants in the Quicken Loans 500 at the 1-mile track near Avondale. He’s certainly the class of the eight drivers still fighting -- literally on and off the track, in fact -- for this season’s Sprint Cup championship. Harvick, a three-time winner this season, goes into the 500K race at Phoenix eighth in points among the eight Cup-eligible drivers. And one-time winner Denny Hamlin are tied for the lead, two points ahead of winless Ryan Newman and 12 ahead of Jeff Gordon, a four-time winner. Winless Matt Kenseth and two-time winner Carl Edwards are 13 points behind, six-time winner Brad Keselowski trails by 17 and Harvick trails by 18. Only the top four in points after Sunday remain eligible for the Cup in the Nov.
